Highly talented Yoruba actor, producer, and director.
Ibrahim Chatta is a remarkably talented Nigerian actor, film producer, director, and singer. Celebrated for his exceptional acting range, deep emotional delivery, and flawless mastery of the Yoruba language and traditional chants, he is widely regarded as one of the most prominent actors in the Yoruba film industry.
Born on October 13, 1970, in Bachita, located in the Edu Local Government Area of Kwara State, Ibrahim Chatta grew up in a large, polygamous family. His upbringing was deeply rooted in traditional Yoruba culture, which heavily influenced his unique acting style and deep linguistic mastery.
Unlike many of his peers, Chatta lacked formal higher education, having dropped out of school at an early age. However, through sheer self-education, voracious reading, and relentless dedication, he built a highly successful career.
Chatta's acting career began in the late 1980s under the influence of traditional traveling theatre practitioners. He struggled initially but gained massive recognition following his standout performance in the epic film Aiyekooto. He has since become a household name, starring in massive hits like Mafi Wonmi, Atini O'go, and October 1.
As a leading figure in Yoruba cinema, Ibrahim Chatta frequently works alongside major heavyweights. He has co-starred in numerous high-budget epics with Odunlade Adekola and Femi Adebayo. He also regularly collaborates with younger breakout stars like Lateef Adedimeji and veteran director Muyiwa Ademola.
Ibrahim Chatta is a dedicated family man. After a few previously highly publicized relationships, he found stability and married Olaide Aishat (also known as Lizzy Berry). The couple is blessed with children.
As of 2026, Ibrahim remains an intensely sought-after leading man in indigenous Nollywood epics. He also actively runs the Afrinero Film Academy, training the next generation of authentic Nigerian actors.
