These terms match how Kobogist works today: a free-to-read magazine, public comments that we moderate, and no reader accounts or checkout. They are not a substitute for legal advice.

These terms

By using Kobogist you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

We write for a general audience. Nothing here is professional advice — legal, financial, medical, or otherwise. Stories can be updated as facts change.

Who we are

Kobogist is a digital magazine covering Nigerian news, culture, and the people shaping it, published at kobogist.com. Editorial and reader enquiries go to [email protected].

The registered legal entity behind the masthead is not listed on this site yet. Until that is confirmed, Kobogist is the name of the publication you are dealing with.

Using the site

You may read Kobogist for personal, non-commercial use. You may share links to our stories. You may not scrape the site in a way that harms it, overload our servers, or pretend to be Kobogist.

Some areas including /admin — are for staff only. Accessing them without permission is not allowed.

Our content

Stories, headlines, artwork, the Kobogist name and mark, and the way the site is put together belong to Kobogist or to the people who licensed them to us. You may quote short passages with credit and a link, in line with ordinary fair dealing for criticism, review, or news reporting. You may not copy whole articles, republish our photos as your own, or train a model on our pages without permission.

If you believe something on Kobogist infringes your rights, email [email protected] with the URL and an explanation. We will look at it.

Profiles

The profiles directory is editorial. Entries describe public figures and other people in the news. We aim to be accurate. Biographies can be incomplete, out of date, or disputed.

If a profile is wrong and it is about you, or you are authorised to write on someone's behalf, use the contact form (choose “Profile update”) or email [email protected]. We may ask you to show why a change should be made.

Comments and messages

Comments are optional. You grant Kobogist a non-exclusive licence to display your comment on the article and to moderate, edit, or remove it. Comments are not live by default — they wait for review.

You are responsible for what you submit. Do not post libel, hate, threats, spam, personal data about other people, or material you do not have the right to share. We can refuse or delete comments without notice.

Messages sent through the contact form are for the newsroom. They are not a public comment and they are not a guaranteed commission, correction, or partnership.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • break the law, or ask us to
  • interfere with the site, including by introducing malware
  • harvest email addresses from comments or pages
  • impersonate Kobogist, our staff, or another reader
  • use automated tools in a way that disrupts publishing or reading

Third parties

Stories may link out. Profile pages may point to social accounts. The footer currently includes generic social destinations that may be updated to Kobogist's own profiles. Those other sites have their own terms. We are not responsible for them.

The public site may load Google Analytics if you accept cookies. Images may be served from Cloudinary. That does not make those companies responsible for our journalism.

Accounts and payments

Readers do not create accounts on Kobogist. There is no paywall and no checkout. Any “Join” button on the newsletter form only stores an email in your own browser today; it does not bill you and it does not create a membership.

Availability

We want Kobogist up every day. We do not promise uninterrupted access, that every search will be complete, or that every story will remain at the same URL forever. We may change, archive, or remove pages.

Liability

The site is provided as is. To the fullest extent Nigerian law allows, Kobogist is not liable for loss that comes from using or being unable to use the site, from relying on a story or profile, or from comments posted by readers.

Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited by law.

Changes

We may update these terms when the site changes. The date at the top of this page is the latest version. If a change is significant, we will try to make that obvious here.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Nigerian courts, and in particular the courts of Lagos State, are the intended venue for disputes — subject to confirmation of Kobogist's legal seat.

If you are a consumer in the UK, you may have mandatory rights that these terms cannot override. This clause is not meant to take those away.

Contact

Questions about these terms: [email protected] or the contact page.

What still needs confirming

  • The legal entity that owns and operates Kobogist, and its registered address.
  • Whether a different venue or arbitration clause is preferred.
  • Advertising, syndication, or contribution agreements — none of those are sold through this website today.
  • Official social-account URLs, once they replace the current footer placeholders.
