2027 Nigeria Election Timetable

INEC's timetable for the 2027 general election, confirmed after a revision moved the presidential election forward to January.

Party primaries

Party primaries and resolution of related disputes ran from 23 April to 30 May 2026. Candidates for every race are now confirmed.

Presidential and National Assembly

Campaigns began 19 August 2026 and run until 15 January 2027. Nigerians vote for president, senators, and House of Representatives members on 16 January 2027.

Governorship and State Assembly

Campaigns began 9 September 2026 and run until 5 February 2027. Voting is on 6 February 2027 in 28 states. Anambra, Bayelsa, Edo, Ekiti, Imo, Kogi, Ondo, and Osun hold governorship elections on their own separate schedules, not as part of this cycle.

Voter registration

INEC's Continuous Voter Registration closed on 30 August 2026. Registration for the 2027 cycle is no longer open.
