Ronaldo Suspended 30 Days and Fined €255 for Portugal Walkout
Cristiano Ronaldo faces a 30-day suspension and a shockingly small €255 fine after storming out of the Portugal camp following a clash with Jorge Jesus.

Cristiano Ronaldo just received one of the strangest punishments in modern football history. After storming out of the Portugal national team camp last month, the football icon has been handed a 30-day suspension.
The financial penalty, however, is what caught everyone off guard. The Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) fined the billionaire athlete a grand total of €255. Yes, you read that right.
The Spark That Ignited the Walkout
Tensions boiled over during Portugal's 2-1 victory against Norway on September 27. Manager Jorge Jesus kept Ronaldo on the bench for the entire match. This happened despite making the veteran forward warm up for nearly half an hour.
Ronaldo didn't stick around to celebrate at the final whistle. He skipped the post-match formalities, packed his bags, and completely abandoned the team camp in Denmark.
He later released a statement accusing Jesus of breaking explicit promises regarding his playing time. While he apologized for leaving without permission, he demanded the federation issue an appropriate punishment.
Why is the Fine So Tiny?
In a sport where players are routinely fined heavily, a €255 penalty sounds like a joke. When fans hear about football sanctions, they usually think of massive numbers. We often see this with complex issues like the Manchester United 114 financial charges.
But the FPF's Disciplinary Council operates under a strict legal framework. They found Ronaldo guilty of breaching Article 160 of their disciplinary code. Under this specific rule, the maximum financial penalty allowed is 2.5 accounting units. That translates precisely to €255. It is a bureaucratic limitation, not a special favor.
Will We See Him in November?
The 30-day suspension could have seriously derailed Ronaldo's international career. He is currently just 20 goals shy of reaching an unprecedented 1,000 career goals.
Thankfully for his fans, the disciplinary committee showed some leniency. They ruled that the suspension retroactively began on September 30. This was the exact day he walked out. Because of this backdating, the ban will expire before the next international window opens.
Ronaldo will be legally cleared to play when Portugal regroups in November. According to Sports Illustrated, his involvement in those games is now up in the air. Whether Jorge Jesus actually calls him up after this public fallout is an entirely different question.
