Fireboy DML Releases Fifth Studio Album 'ZUKO!'
Nigerian star Fireboy DML returns with his fifth studio album, ZUKO!. Discover the tracklist, guest features, and the deep meaning behind the title.

Nigerian music star Fireboy DML is officially back on the album circuit. The YBNL and EMPIRE signee has just released his highly anticipated fifth studio album, titled ZUKO!.
Arriving just two years after his 2024 project Adedamola, this new body of work shows a massive evolution in his sound. Fireboy has always been a master of blending R&B, soul, and Afrobeats into his self-coined "Afro-Life" genre. With ZUKO!, he takes that formula and expands it across borders, pulling in heavy dancehall and South African influences.
If you have been following his career since Laughter, Tears and Goosebumps, you already know Fireboy doesn't miss. Here is a full breakdown of what makes ZUKO! one of his most ambitious projects to date.
The Meaning Behind ZUKO!
Fireboy has never shied away from deep themes. He recently shaved his head, signaling a visual and artistic rebirth. Ahead of the album drop, he released The Red Couch Session: ZUKO! on YouTube to explain the project's core themes. The title is a direct reference to Prince Zuko from the animated series Avatar: The Last Airbender.
Like the fictional character, this album explores concepts of identity, exile, and ultimate redemption. It is a deeply introspective project. You hear a mix of vulnerability and sheer confidence right from the opening tracks.
A Global Tracklist
ZUKO! features 13 tracks that run for about 40 minutes. The production is grand, featuring choral backing vocals and expansive arrangements. But the guest features are what truly make this album a global affair.
Fireboy tapped Judah Earl for the opening prayer-like track, "DEAR FATHER." From there, the energy shifts quickly. He brings in Jamaican dancehall heavy-hitter Masicka on the assertive track "CLAAT!".
For the romantic Afropop lovers, "GODDESS" features Lojay, delivering exactly the kind of smooth vocals you would expect from that pairing.
However, the biggest crossover moment happens on "IMALI." Fireboy links up with South African artists JAZZWRLD and Thukuthela, bridging Nigerian Afrobeats with South Africa’s booming 3-Step sound. This specific track already cracked the Official Nigeria Top 100’s Top 20 within days of release.
